Pantopon Rose

Pantopon Rose es un proyecto de video, animación y de CD-ROM interactivo, que toma como pretexto el poema "Pantopon Rose", de William S. Burroughs, para explorar en la vida de este escritor.

Rosa Pantopón is a project expresed in video, animation and a interactive CD-ROM, that uses the poem Pantapon Rose as a window into the authors life.

The CD- ROM "Rosa Pantopon", is a interactive work that aims to give a complete view of the life and work of the American writer William S. Burroughs. It will have appeal for the neophyte as well as the specialist. In it, the user can navigate through several ambiances that range from a very updated biography of the artist, to video images of the man himself practicing target shooting. The production of the CD was made possible thanks to the Intercultural Film/ Video/ Multimedia Grant of the Rockefeller Foundation and the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, granted to Andrea Di Castro in April 1996. And last but not least to the kind collaboration of William Burroughs Communications. Now, we are working in an Internet version of this work.

El CD-ROM "Rosa Pantopon" es una obra interactiva que tiene como objetivo (o intenta) dar una visión completa de la vida y obra del escritor americano William S. Burroughs. Atrae tanto a principiantes como a expertos. En esta pieza, el usuario (o espectador) puede navegar a través de diversos ambientes que van desde la biografía actualizada del artista, hasta videos del famoso escritor practicando tiro al blanco. La produción del CD fue posible gracias a la Beca Intercultural de Cine /Video /Multimedia de la Rockefeller Foundation y la John D and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, obtenida por Andrea Di Castro en 1996. Y finalmente gracias a la amable colaboración de William Burroughs Communications.

Actualmente, trabajamos en la versión para Internet de dicha obra.

En una visita al Sr. Burroughs en Kansas, en 1995, tuve oportunidad de participar en una sesión de tiro. De ésta y otras sesiones de grabación proviene el material de video utilizado en el CD.

On a visit to Mr. Burroughs in Kansas in 1995, I had the opportunity to join him at a target shooting session. Of this occasion and other shootings is where the material for the video was originated.
